Form 5736 (Revised 10-2023)
Identification number and odometer (ID/
OD) or safety inspection, if applicable;
General Adavit (Form 768), if applicable;
and
Application for Motor Vehicle License (Form
184).
If the vehicle is being imported into the U.S.
and brought into this state, you will also
be required to submit the completed U.S.
Customs and Border Protection 7501 Form
and the U.S. Department of Transportation
HS-7 form.
Additionally, you will be required to pay state
and local sales tax, if applicable, titling and
registration fees, and processing fees.
Nonresidents residing in Missouri due to
military orders may register and title vehicles,
all-terrain vehicles, trailers, manufactured
homes, and marinecraft in Missouri.
All motor vehicles previously titled in another
state or country must be inspected to verify
the vehicle identification number and odometer
reading of the vehicle. A signed statement
from a commissioned ocer of the United
States Armed Forces verifying the vehicle’s
identification number and odometer reading
or Out-of-State Military VIN and Odometer
Verification (Form 5874) may be submitted.

To title and register your vehicle, trailer,
all-terrain vehicle, manufactured home, or
marinecraft, you will need the following:
Certificate of Title (signed over to you);
• Or, proof of ownership in accordance with
the laws of your previous state/province
where the vehicle is currently titled in
your name.
Signed Application for Missouri Title and
License (Form 108);
A current insurance identification card or
other proof of financial responsibility;
Either a statement of non-assessment or
proof of paid personal property taxes from
your Missouri county (or City of St. Louis)
collectors oce;
Missouri Residents Stationed in Missouri:
Missouri residents and those living in
Missouri on military orders can apply for a
Missouri driver license or nondriver license
by providing the required documents.
Missouri residents stationed out of the
state/country are allowed to maintain their
Missouri driver license if they maintain a
Missouri address that can be verified.
Missouri Residents Stationed Outside
Missouri:
Missouri residents who are stationed out of
state can renew their Missouri driver license
by mail using the Mail-In Driver License
Application (Form 4317)*.
*Address verification is required. License may
be renewed up to six months prior to the
expiration.
Non-Residents Stationed in Missouri:
If you are a resident of another state and
are currently stationed in Missouri, you have
the option to keep your out-of-state driver
license or you may transfer your license and
obtain a Missouri driver license.
If you choose to transfer your license to
Missouri, you must surrender your out-
of-state license and provide the required
documents.

Missouri residents are required to report and
pay personal property tax to the local county
assessor regardless of the state where the
vehicle is titled and registered.

If you are being deployed more than six months before your license will
expire, you can renew your license prior to deployment by providing a
copy of your orders showing the deployment time frame.
